Software Quality Assurance / SQA Test Engineer

Trial By Fire Solutions is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to play an essential role in the quality assurance and evolution of our clinical trial management software. Collaborate with our engineering and product teams on our web-based e-clinical product and services utilized in the life science industry. Become a key contributor to a small team who thinks big about helping to get new medical therapies to people in need.

This team member will play an integral role in the success of clients utilizing our SaaS-based “SimpleTrials” product, a Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS) and Electronic Trial Master File (eTMF), which is used by pharma, device and biotech organizations, CROs and research sites. This position reports directly to the SQA Manager.

This is a full time position working remotely (US-based). Candidates must be legally able to work in the United States for an unlimited period. Experience with SQA in a regulated or compliant industry is required for this job.

 Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of tests including, but not limited to, acceptance, regression, feature, performance, and patch / bug testing

  • Responsible for ensuring testing environments are available and contain representative test data for the tests being executed

  • Ability to execute a test plan per the quality procedures

  • Collect objective evidence for acceptability of testing

  • Work closely with SQA Manager to scope and develop test plans for features and bug fixes

  • Report and track bugs using IMS system

  • Manage SQA testing timelines for assigned test initiatives and product release activities

  • Communicate to appropriate SQA and Engineering team members on status of testing

  • Coordinate test builds with Engineering team for execution of test plan

  • Review and provide input for associated Engineering design documents

  • Build fluency with the comprehensive feature set of the SimpleTrials platform

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years experience performing manual testing of web applications

  • Must have strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies and with the software development life cycle

  • Must have experience with manual execution of testing activities such as CRUD, functional testing, and regression testing (note: automations and load testing are not required for this position)

  • Must have familiarity with testing tools such as Jira and Zephyr

  • Must have experience collecting objective evidence to support testing

  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to troubleshoot issues

  • Must be US-based with the ability to work remotely in an established home office

  • Must be able to manage multiple test initiatives and activities concurrently 

  • Must have good time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work independently

  • Experience with e-clinical products such as CTMS, eTMF, EDC, IWRS, eISF is a plus

  • Experience with computer software validation in a regulated industry is a plus


First Three Months

  • First month is on-boarding, learning the product and offering, the IMS, and how we operate

  • Second month is continuing to learn the application, proficiency with the IMS, and supervised / paired testing

  • At the start of month three, the team member is ready to perform manual testing independently, understand development and testing activities and related internal processes. By the end of the month, the team member is actively contributing feedback to the Engineering and SQA teams and is ready to perform larger manual testing initiatives.
